Evaluation of the strain-based partitioning method for mixed-mode I+II fracture of bi-material cracks

The goal of this paper is to evaluate the strain-based partitioning method (SBM), an analytical based on beam analysis, for mixed-mode fracture characterization asymmetric cracks. energy calculated at crack tip bending (MMB) test with geometry and material parameters. obtained using SBM benchmarked against widely applied Williams’ (WM) numerical results from finite element models virtual closure technique (VCCT). Results show that WM produces inaccurate modes in conditions.
